WITH NEW ROOF TOP TENTS
Leading off road and automotive accessories company Bushranger has pegged out a new corner of the outdoor market securing the distribution rights for a new range of high quality Australian designed rooftop tents.
Bushranger is now distributing the Open Sky roof top tent combining high quality at an unbelievable price.
Open Sky has developed its rooftop tents over the past seven years in Australia, combining local expertise with knowledge gained from researching the best and highest quality units from South Africa, the home of the foldout rooftop tent.
The extensive research and development shows in the latest Open Sky rooftop tent, which boasts all of the good points of previous models with none of the problems other rooftop tents have been known for.
The Open Sky rooftop tent weighs just 46kg ensuring it can be fitted to a wide range of vehicles or roofracks.
It is suitable for everything from light duty AWD soft roaders, such as the Nissan X-trail and Ford Territory, to full-scale 4WD wagons such as the Toyota LandCruiser.
The latest Open Sky rooftop tent has been completely re-designed and manufactured from the base up using a foam insulating sandwich material framed in a neatly fitting extruded alloy frame.
The extruded alloy mounts are designed to quickly and easily fit any roof rail or rack system, allowing the rooftop tent to be speedily attached and removed just as quickly when it is no longer needed.
The internal folding frame has been improved with high quality alloy, while two extra tent bows have been added for improved strength. The frame's structural rigidity has been greatly improved with larger hinge mounts.
The extra aluminium bows also ensure the permanently fitted flysheet is kept clear of the tent preventing condensation and keeping the tent cooler in hot conditions.
The new flysheet is also large enough for the doors to be left open in heavy rain while the positive action of the aluminium bows reduces flapping in windy conditions.
Open Sky trialled a range of tent materials before selecting a highly durable waterproof ripstop poly-cotton canvas, which is also rot and mould resistant.
This highly durable canvas has proved to be hard-wearing and will deliver years of trouble free service.
Particular attention has been paid to the finish of seams and edges for absolute weatherproofing, making the Open Sky rooftop tent the highest quality in its class.
The large windows on each side and the doors at each end are fitted with zippered enclosures which can be opened and closed from inside while zippered flywire screens make the tent midgey and sandfly proof.
Large window awnings have also been fitted allowing the windows to be opened, even during heavy rain, an important consideration in Australia's often hot and steamy tropical north.
Occupant sleeping comfort is maximised with a medium density 60mm deep 1400x2400mm foam mattress.
Access to the Open Sky rooftop tent is via an auto locking alloy ladder with wide flat rungs for improved bare-foot comfort.
The entire unit is fitted with a tough travel cover which has no forward facing or top seams, while a double layer of material covers the ladder when in travelling mode, ensuring the tent remains waterproof and dustproof in even the harshest conditions.
A weather skirt is an optional extra creating a shelter from the elements under the tent floor when it is folded out.
Open Sky designers have utilised sail track to allow the optional weather skirt to be quickly slid into place, while the skirt's two-piece construction ensures added versatility, allowing just one side to be erected to act as a wind break or both sections to be added for a fully enclosed area.
A zippered door gives access to this enclosed area, while two windows ensures good ventilation.
The Open Sky rooftop tent comes with a full two-year manufacturers warranty and has a recommended retail price of $1595. The optional weather skirt is available for $195.
